Following a year at University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the production Pericles in the highly regarded and renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and was offered the lead role. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 productions of Pericles. The opportunity was presented to her to be a part of the Stratford Conservatory, which is a private institution that accepts just eight men as well as four female students for a crash course in traditional theatre. Contractor was ecstatically accepted. Contractor was offered a slot for the following season and was given the role of Hermia.
